Artist statement

My favorite book is Ways of Seeing by John Berger. In it, he explains every image externalizes its creator's way of seeing. I see a simplicity in the world which escapes many people and I channel that into my art as shapes and strokes. To me, brushstrokes are the simplest form of expression: they recall the beginning of form, the first note of a song, the first letter of the poem. I analyze how I see, what I feel, or what I want, and renew it one stroke at a time in my artwork. Whether drawing with pencil or computer, I lay down my vision. A deeper meaning emanates from below the surface of my work, a meaning that provokes change in obscure and mystical ways for both the viewer and for myself.  

 Deniz Eyuboglu was born and raised in Turkiye, and graduated from the prestigious Marmara University in the graphic design and fine art program. Eyuboglu obtained a pedagogy degree to teach art. She has lived in Istanbul and New York City, and currently works in advertising as a VP group art supervisor. 

Living in Jersey City, NJ, Eyuboglu maintains a studio space at Mana Contemporary where she is a multidisciplinary artist. She believes in nurturing an idea with color, stroke, shape, music, and notes so that it can explode on a medium. Eyuboglu has trained herself to see the simplest details in every challenge and strives to bring that life to her art.
